Once they went subscription, I was done with them. I won't do subscriptions. Like you Jeff, I was with them from version 1. LEGALLY OWNED every version of it. It was just so out there different from anything back then. The notion of paying for something non-stop is a deal breaker for me. I own Reasons 11. It sits on my computers and I won't use it. They offered the subscription(S). I declined. eventually what they did is they did an upgrade and now I can't use any of the plugins I purchased from them unless I log into their system. Plug-ins I paid for. Love the channel brother, but Reasons can go pound sand

Is that a TV or monitor? I feel old asking that question. I need a huge display solution. Please help!

LOL. I've actually been sitting on the fence for a Reason upgrade for about 20 years. The last version I bought was 2.5. - I got interested when they made the plug-in version but didn't upgrade. The upgrade price seems to be the same no matter what version you have. I'm still not sure if I should upgrade, so I got Reason+ for one dollar for the first month and will test it out.

One of my current flaws with Reason is my ability to match loudness in this DAW compared to Studio one in my headphones. I think its cool they focused on some mastering tools for this upgrade but since 12 cant users use Izotope as a VST for that?

This is another reason MPC is far superior to Maschine. You can add custom chord progressions, arpeggios and midi sets. I've been wanting to try mk3 (used $300 w software incl) but even a used MPC One for $400 blows Maschine away.

Thanks for your tutorial, Jeff - very helpful! I just have one problem: is there a way to maintain the (loop)tempo in Battery 4 during pitch changes of samples? When I map loops, they run faster the higher the sound gets.

£199 = 235 Euros . That's right - every time Reason updates - or releases a new rack device - UK users get kicked in the balls by having to pay a surcharge of 36 Euros more (for the update) than everyone else just for being British. And no-one from Reason has tried justifying this discriminatory behaviour.

I am loyal reason user fro 2000,and willing to ugprade to 13 fron 12 ,but the took away edit option from top bar and its pissing me off,why not to have two options ,everytime i have to go left?i never almost use tool window ,but do lenth transpose and volume wich was infront of me,reason years behind ,and all new toy they released most of us have in vst,like the tool chain you can find it in arturia effects

I haven't used Reason since Reason 6, and 13 looks like a "worthy upgrade" but $199 is a bit much. Seems like the upgrade price was always around $129. I understand things eventually go up in price, and I think $149 would've been fair. But since DAWs like FL Studio have a "pay once" to obtain a lifetime license and I Logic is $199.99, they seem to be better options price wise. Maybe when the upgrade price goes on sale, I'll considering giving Reason another go... other than the price, Dope update!

It’s great that you can turn down the LEDs now. I know how annoying those blue LEDs can be. I have my PolyBrute 6 coming tomorrow. Btw very nice studio vibe there. Seems like a comfortable and ergonomic space.

NI Battery is very cool but, Native Access has been a horrible experience for me. I wanted to add Battery to my laptop...it forced me to create a new password and this is where the problems start. First off, it warned me that my password is already being used. No sh*t... it sold to the same guy... Anyway, I purchased it again thinking the new version could be registered as a separate copy but, for some reason NOTHING. Thanks N/I. SMH.

If U turn on direct record on the player, it would have all the chord notes in the sequencer

I remember when the ads came out in 99' for Reason and having my young mind blown at the concept. In 2000 I had a Warez version of ReBirth and tied it to my Echoplex Looper and would noodle for hours. Maybe a year or two later, I scored a cracked version of Reason and it was amazing. The era of REX files was pretty cool. Same tech today, but it's no longer a standardized file type (shout out to Korg Gadget for trying to bring it back). I keep looking for a reason (insert dumb pun here) to get back into Reason. For now, with Cubase and Bitwig, I feel like I still have my bases covered.

Dude...something must be wrong with ME because this browser is absolutely TERRIBLE!! 1. It is not dockable/detachable NOR do they give you the option to. 2. For multi window users you have to open the browser in EACH window instead of one main browser that floats over all windows. 3. Since WAAAAYYY back in version 3 i believe we have had color folders and icons now they are all monochromatic! 4. This "tags" feature ONLY works for the NATIVE sounds in reason and NOT your own sample libraries or content locations. They only let you "tag" content with their PREMADE tags. 5. The alleged "new editing tools" were ALREADY AVAILABLE in the F8 window. They just docked it to the editing window. (like they SHOULD have done with the browser) 6. You CONNOT create your OWN custom "tags" and name them what YOU want. I can go ON and ON! I have been a Reason user since REBIRTH on my G3 PowerMac back in 2000 and this by FAR is the WORST upgrade to the reason franchise! I feel they are going towards the Apple "create your own ecosystem and bind users to it" model with the subscriptions content paywalls instead of giving the users the OPTION to use the software as freely as they want. THEN on top of all of that they are charging almost DOUBLE the price for features that were pretty much ALREADY in the previous versions and a FAR inferior browser. In past reason versions they ALWAYS kept the software as it was before but added new features and content on TOP of what was already there instead of completely REPLACING it. Ive got a bad feeling about this biz model and thet they will begin to get more and more greedy for subs and lock features behind it almost exclusively. Look at what has happened with Logic and where it went from the early emagic days to now a glorified "band in the box" Ai mess. I dont like this new direction but again....maybe its just me. I'll get off my soapbox now. lol

Upgrade price makes no sense for people using only the rack in other daws.

Upgrade is insanely overpriced. 68% of users on ReasonTalk thought the 12 upgrade for 199 was overpriced. I think the same is true here with 13 and Reason Studios are killing their own sales by pricing uogrades at a level where existing customers lose interest 🤔

The upgrade price is too high for what you actually get. Looks like they want to nudge people towards Reason+ by making regular upgrades increasingly expensive, and holding back some features for subscribers only (which are otherwise sold separately). As soon as companies get a taste of that recurring revenue, they get less and less friendly about letting people actually buy software instead of just renting it.

My goodness! I remember stumbling across this thing when I updated my Komplete and thought, it's neat, cute lil' cubes with some random sounds... Didn't seem very useful at first. Thank You for opening me eyes, I'll be using this a lot more now!:)

Shills be shilling, how can you say this update is the best ever for $199, lost vst thumbnail pictures, lost favourites...and got a delay and some other stuff that we didn't need. oh but we have sound categories now...only not for vst's. Awesome.

Not seing $199. That's an almost comical asking price for an upgrade that should have been $49 with the synth an optional buy in the shop.

Wish they had Kontrol S integration. Although you can map some areas manually. I’m still on Reason 12. I use reason inside of Studio one professional so that way I can have integrated features. Hope to see it come to reason one day. More videos please!
